Myanmar President to Visit India for Five-Day Trip Starting May 30

New Delhi, May 29: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Myanmar’s President U Min Aung Hlaing will arrive in India for a five-day visit starting May 30. This marks his first official trip to India since taking office in April this year.

President U Min Aung Hlaing is scheduled to land at Gaya International Airport at 9 AM on May 30. Following his arrival, he will visit the Mahabodhi Temple at 10:20 AM and the Sujata Temple in Bakraur at 1 PM.

Later that day, he will arrive at AFS Palam in Delhi at 4:30 PM. He is set to meet with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at ITC Maurya Hotel at 6:30 PM.

On May 31, a Myanmar-India Business Forum will take place at 10 AM. On June 1, President Hlaing will hold a meeting with the Prime Minister at Hyderabad House at 11:30 AM, followed by a press statement at 12:55 PM.

That same day, he is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 4:15 PM. He will then visit the exhibition “The Light and the Lotus: Relics of the Awakened One” at the Raipithora Cultural Complex at 5 PM.

On June 2, President Hlaing will arrive at Navi Mumbai International Airport at 11:30 AM. A meeting with the Governor of Maharashtra is planned at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, at 7 PM.

President Hlaing is expected to depart on June 3 at 10:30 AM.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Myanmar is at the confluence of India’s Neighborhood First, Act East, and Ocean policies. President U Min Aung Hlaing’s official visit to India is expected to strengthen various ties between the two countries.”

During the swearing-in ceremony, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, visited Myanmar and congratulated President Hlaing on behalf of PM Modi. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to enhancing cooperation under its “Neighborhood First,” “Act East,” and “Ocean” policies for the benefit of the people of Myanmar.
