Mumbai, July 10: Senior leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition launched a sharp attack on the Maharashtra government during the conclusion of the monsoon assembly session on Friday.
United in their criticism, Congress leader Nana Patole, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Jadhav, and NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Jayant Patil targeted the ruling party over issues affecting farmers, corruption in infrastructure, declining educational standards, and the ‘undemocratic’ delay in appointing the opposition leader.
Patole claimed that public trust in the current government has eroded, with farmers actively opposing its policies. Recently, the government announced a relaxation of two conditions related to agricultural loan waivers. However, Patole insisted on a complete and unconditional waiver.
Criticizing the government’s vague promises, Patole noted that officials have postponed discussions on bonuses for rice-producing farmers. Referring to infrastructure projects, particularly the ‘missing link’ project, he remarked that nature has exposed the government’s failings.
He stated that with a spending of ₹540 crores per kilometer, the infrastructure should be flawless, and this blatant corruption has tarnished the state’s reputation.
Condemning the political climate, he asserted that threats of ‘consequences’ against critics by the ruling parties are entirely unconstitutional. He emphasized that their opposition is purely ideological and that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is not their personal enemy.
Patole also accused the government of intervening in major religious sites managed by state committees, citing financial irregularities. He claimed that the government has taken control of temples like Siddhivinayak, Shirdi Sai Baba, and Pandharpur, where individuals are exploiting resources in the name of power.
He contrasted this with the transparent management of the Gajanan Maharaj Trust in Shegaon, which operates flawlessly without government interference.
