Bhopal, May 15: The recent ruling by the High Court regarding the Bhojshala case has sparked strong reactions from the Muslim community. Congress MLA Arif Masood, along with several Muslim leaders and religious figures, has announced plans to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, some Muslim organizations have urged respect for the court’s ruling and suggested pursuing legal avenues.
In an interview, Congress MLA Arif Masood stated that this is a long-standing issue that has been contentious for quite some time. He noted that since the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) took over the matter, disputes have escalated. The recent High Court ruling has favored the opposing side based on ASI’s findings.
Masood emphasized, “We will collectively challenge this in the Supreme Court. We have the opportunity to do so. Until the Supreme Court makes a decision, the administration should not hand this matter over to anyone else. The Muslim community has previously shown great restraint regarding the Babri Masjid issue.”
Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi, President of the Islamic Center of India, expressed that the court’s decision has left many in the Muslim community feeling disheartened. However, he remains hopeful for justice from the Supreme Court, stating, “We respect the court’s ruling.”
Sufi Kashish Warsi, President of the Indian Sufi Foundation, remarked that this controversy is deeply rooted. He aimed to inform Muslims across the country that prayers were conducted on Fridays, while worship occurred on Tuesdays. “On Fridays, idols were removed for cleaning before prayers,” he explained.
Warsi added, “A true Muslim would not pray at a disputed site. The battle has been fought, and the court’s decision is now in place. We should accept this ruling like we did with the Babri Masjid verdict. We should not make statements against the court. I urge Muslims not to be swayed by political figures. If any action is to be taken, it should be directed towards the Supreme Court.”
