
Mumbai, May 27: Bakrid will be celebrated in Mumbai on May 28, 2026, with great enthusiasm and religious devotion, as is customary. A large number of people from the Muslim community will gather at mosques, dargahs, and madrasas to offer prayers and perform the ritual of sacrifice.
To maintain law and order during the festival, the Mumbai Police have implemented extensive security measures. Under the guidance of the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the supervision of the Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order), special arrangements have been planned across the city.
According to the Mumbai Police, for Bakrid, 8 additional police commissioners, 21 deputy commissioners, 61 assistant commissioners, 1,980 police officers, and 10,110 police personnel will be deployed. Additionally, teams including the Rapid Action Force, Anti-Demonstration Team, SRPF Platoon, Riot Control Unit, Quick Response Team, Delta Force, Combat Force, and Home Guards will also be stationed.
Special surveillance will be maintained in sensitive and crowded areas to ensure the festival proceeds peacefully and safely.
The Mumbai Police have urged citizens to remain calm in crowded places and cooperate with law enforcement. They have advised the public to report any suspicious or abandoned items to the police immediately. In case of emergencies, citizens can contact the helpline numbers 100 and 112.
