Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Rebel Legislators After Their Shift to BJP
Akhilesh Yadav targets rebel lawmakers who joined BJP, questioning their loyalty and future prospects in politics.

Lucknow, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has sharply criticized three rebel legislators following their recent switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking in a poetic style, he highlighted the irony of their decision, suggesting that after years of loyalty, they have gained nothing more than a membership card in a new party.
In a post on social media, Yadav pointed out that these leaders might find themselves waiting for political respect and candidacy even in their new party. He wrote, “A person who betrays his own tribe walks with the burden of dishonor. They must raise the flag as workers while others use their shoulders. They bow their heads to engage in dubious dealings, stealing donations and contributions. All they have earned so far is a tarnished name.”
He further emphasized that despite their long wait, they have achieved little more than a membership slip. The old contenders in the BJP are reportedly dismissing such newcomers, suggesting that they come and go frequently. Yadav remarked that if they have not remained loyal to the party they won with, they will likely continue to be mere “candidates” in their new party, rather than achieving any real status.
This shift comes at a crucial time, as the three legislators—Rakesh Pratap Singh from Amethi, Abhay Singh from Ayodhya, and Vinod Chaturvedi from Jalaun—formally joined the BJP on Wednesday. Their defection is seen as a significant development in Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.
