
Hyderabad, June 22: In an exhilarating match on the sixth day of Season 2 of the Rugby Premier League (RPL), the Mumbai Dreamers defeated the host Hyderabad Heroes 12-10 on Sunday. This marks the Dreamers’ fifth consecutive victory. Meanwhile, at the Gachibowli-based Ganti Mohana Chandra Balyogi Athletic Stadium, the Bengaluru Bravehearts secured an easy win against the Chennai Bulls, finishing 33-12.
In the match between Bengaluru Bravehearts and Chennai Bulls, the Bravehearts started strong. Jonas Mikalius opened the scoring from the left wing. The Chennai Bulls responded during stoppage time of the first quarter with a try from Santiago Alvarez, followed by Marcus Kershaw giving them the lead.
With his incredible speed, Ryan Epps leveled the match in the third quarter. Due to sustained pressure, Ganesh Majhi managed to put Bengaluru ahead again. Epps scored his second try at the start of the final quarter, while Devendra Padir added a late score, ensuring the Bravehearts maintained possession and secured the win.
In the clash between Mumbai Dreamers and Hyderabad Heroes, the match kicked off at a fast pace. Both teams gave each other a tough fight, with Diego Ardao giving the Heroes an early lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was fiercely contested, with Guilam Bouche equalizing for the Dreamers. Mumbai’s strong defense kept the game tied in the third quarter. Ardao scored again at the start of the final quarter, putting Hyderabad ahead once more. However, a late try by Lucas Mignot in extra time clinched the victory for the Dreamers, extending their winning streak.
In the upcoming matches on Sunday, the women’s teams will see Chennai Bulls face off against Mumbai Dreamers, while the Kolkata Banga Tigers will challenge the Delhi Reds. In the men’s category, the Delhi Reds will compete against the Kolkata Banga Tigers in the final match of the day.
