New Delhi, September 1: The Central Delhi Queens wrapped up their campaign in the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026 with a decisive victory. They defeated the East Delhi Riders by 41 runs on Tuesday.
Both teams were already out of the title race. The Central Delhi Queens finished third, winning 2 out of 6 matches, while the East Delhi Riders ended up in last place, losing 5 out of 6 matches. The final match will be played on Wednesday between the North Delhi Strikers and the South Delhi Superstars.
Batting first at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Central Delhi Queens scored 138 runs, losing 9 wickets. Captain Diksha Sharma and Tanu Chauhan opened the innings with a partnership of 17 runs. Diksha returned to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs off 14 balls. Tanu then added 14 runs with Nidhi Mahto for the second wicket.
Tanu fell as the team’s second wicket, scoring just 3 runs off 7 balls. Nidhi Mahto then partnered with Akshita Jain, adding 25 runs for the third wicket in 20 balls, helping the team cross the fifty mark.
Akshita scored 8 runs off 8 balls before the team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Nidhi Mahto showcased her talent, scoring 80 runs off 53 balls, including 2 sixes and 11 fours. From the opposition, Bharti Rawal took 3 wickets for just 13 runs, while Vanshika also claimed 3 wickets for 14 runs. Tamanna Singh took 2 wickets.
In response, the East Delhi Riders managed only 97 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. They lost 4 wickets for just 36 runs. Simran Bahadur and Purva Sivaach formed a partnership of 43 runs for the fifth wicket off 44 balls, but it was not enough to secure victory.
Simran scored 29 runs off 38 balls with 4 fours, while Purva Sivaach contributed 30 runs. Rajshree Yadav remained not out at 10 runs. For the Queens, Diksha Sharma was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs. Neha Parmar and Nishtha Bisht each took 1 wicket.
