Mumbai, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently appeared on actor Shekhar Suman’s chat show “Shekhar Tonight,” where he discussed the evolving perspective on film length in Bollywood.
Chhabra praised the film “Dhurdhar,” attributing a significant part of this shift to director Aditya Dhar. He remarked, “It’s essential for a story to have substance. I recently saw a meme highlighting that while we change reels every second, ‘Dhurdhar’ managed to keep audiences engaged for four hours without anyone touching their phones.”
He noted that since the release of “Dhurdhar,” conversations about film duration have changed. “Now, people prefer to discuss the story rather than the film’s length. They no longer ask me to shorten the story or add another song. I realized that if you have conviction, the narrative will resonate,” he explained.
Chhabra commended director Aditya Dhar, stating, “His greatest quality is that he listens only to himself. He is so calm and confident that he can change others’ opinions about him.” He emphasized that Dhar does not waste time trying to alter others’ perceptions, showcasing a strong belief in his vision.
Chhabra also praised Ranveer Singh for his portrayal of Hamza Ali Mazari, affirming that he brought the character to life. “On set, he embodied the spirit of the 1980s,” he added.
The film “Dhurdhar,” directed by Aditya Dhar, features a star-studded cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. Set against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions, gang wars, and secret operations, it masterfully blends elements of espionage and crime drama.
