
Port Vila, April 23: Central Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margarita, met with Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jotham Napth on Thursday in Port Vila. The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen mutual cooperation in key areas.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to the welfare and development of their peoples.
Following the meeting, the MOS posted on the social media platform X, expressing, “I am honored to meet with Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jotham Napth. We had warm and fruitful discussions on enhancing mutual cooperation between India and Vanuatu in specific sectors, ensuring our shared commitment to the welfare and progress of our people.”
Earlier in the day, Margarita also met with Vanuatu’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and External Trade, Javier Emmanuel Harry, to discuss deepening cooperation across various sectors.
After their meeting, the MOS shared on X, “It was a pleasure to meet with Vanuatu’s Acting Foreign Affairs, IC, and External Trade Minister Javier Emmanuel Harry. India and Vanuatu share a strong partnership based on mutual trust and shared values.”
She noted, “We had productive discussions on advancing bilateral development cooperation, particularly in health, capacity building, and climate-resilient infrastructure. We also talked about collaboration in multilateral forums. India remains a dedicated and reliable partner in Vanuatu’s development journey.”
On Wednesday, Margarita visited the Center of Excellence in Information Technology in Vanuatu. This special institution, supported by India, aims to enhance digital skills among youth and boost local capacity.
She stated that this institution is a strong pillar of India-Vanuatu friendship and a testament to the growing bilateral relationship.
The MOS has arrived in Vanuatu for her first official visit, aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two countries.
