Bhopal, October 14 (Daily Kiran): The monsoon has officially withdrawn from Madhya Pradesh, marking the end of the rainy season, though light showers may continue in some southern districts over the next few days. Meanwhile, the state has started experiencing a nip in the air, with night temperatures dropping below 20°C in most cities.

Monsoon

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has retreated in three phases this year. It first withdrew from 12 districts, then from 35 more, and finally on Monday from the remaining regions including Singrauli, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, and Pandhurna.

This year, the monsoon remained active in Madhya Pradesh for three months and 28 days, entering the state on June 16.

Light Rain Expected in Southern Madhya Pradesh

The weather department stated that no rainfall alert has been issued for Tuesday, but thunderstorms with light rain are expected in the southern districts on October 15 and 16. Despite the monsoon’s exit, moisture in the atmosphere will continue to bring occasional drizzle in certain areas.

Temperatures Drop Across the State

The change in wind direction, influenced by snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, has led to cooler conditions in the plains. Cold northern winds are now sweeping through Madhya Pradesh, lowering night temperatures.
