New Delhi, August 21: The monsoon continues to impact Delhi-NCR, with changing weather patterns observed since Friday. The sky has been overcast in many areas, and local meteorological forecasts predict rain over the coming days.
Currently, no weather warnings have been issued. However, light to moderate rain is expected from August 21 to 24. Following this, a brief respite from rain is anticipated on August 25 and 26, with the sky remaining partially cloudy. According to local forecasts, the maximum temperature on August 21 is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 25 degrees. Light rain may occur throughout the day.
On August 22, rain activity may increase, with maximum temperatures around 33 degrees and minimums at 25 degrees Celsius. The sky will be cloudy, and moderate rainfall is likely. On August 23, temperatures are expected to remain similar, with a maximum of 33 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius, along with the possibility of light rain or drizzle. Humidity levels are projected to range between 70% and 85%.
On August 24, temperatures may vary between 34 and 24 degrees Celsius, with light rain or drizzle expected. Changes in weather patterns may begin on August 25, with maximum temperatures around 35 degrees and minimums at 25 degrees Celsius. The sky will be partially cloudy, and the likelihood of rain will decrease. Humidity may range from 55% to 75%.
Despite the changing weather and rain, the air quality in Delhi-NCR has not deteriorated significantly. Data from various monitoring centers indicate that the Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the green and yellow zones. However, some areas are experiencing higher pollution levels. The AQI in Anand Vihar is recorded at 242, the highest in the region. Other areas include Ashok Vihar at 119, Aya Nagar at 124, Bawana at 136, Burari Crossing at 103, Cantonment Area at 93, Chandni Chowk at 134, and Commonwealth Sports Complex at 95.
The AQI on Mathura Road stands at 129, indicating that pollution levels remain elevated in some busy and traffic-congested areas of NCR despite the rain and cloud cover. In Noida, the air quality is currently in the yellow zone, with AQI readings of 110 in Sector 125, 102 in Sector 62, 116 in Sector 1, and 141 in Sector 116, the latter being the most polluted. Nevertheless, the rain and humid conditions are expected to help control dust particles in the air.
In Ghaziabad, six active monitoring centers recorded varying AQI levels. Govindpuram reported an AQI of 77, and Indirapuram at 73, both in the green zone. However, Loni recorded an AQI of 145, Sanjay Nagar at 129, Vasundhara at 131, and Ved Vihar-Loni at 115. The monsoon clouds continue to affect the entire NCR, including Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Light to moderate rain is expected over the next few days, which should prevent significant temperature increases. However, humidity may rise once the rain subsides. Currently, the persistent clouds and rain are not causing a major decline in air quality.
