New Delhi, August 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an insightful quote on the social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday. He posted a Sanskrit verse: “उत्तमैः सह साङ्गत्यं पण्डितैः सह सत्कथाम्. अलुब्धैः सह मित्रत्वं कुर्वाणो नावसीदति॥”
The meaning in Hindi conveys that a person who associates with noble individuals, engages in meaningful conversations with scholars, and befriends selfless and unselfish people will never be unhappy.
On Monday, while sharing this wisdom, the Prime Minister stated, “Compassion leads to self-respect, and true happiness comes from contentment. This sentiment strengthens the bonds of cooperation and goodwill in society.”
He also shared another Sanskrit verse: “कारुण्येनात्मनो मानं तृष्णां च परितोषतः. उत्थानेन जयेत्तन्द्रीं वितर्कं निश्चयाज्जयेत्॥” The Hindi interpretation suggests that having compassion for others brings self-respect, and being content helps conquer desires. Through effort, one can surely overcome laziness and baseless doubts.
Earlier, on August 21, the Prime Minister had shared another insightful quote. He wrote, “The continuous flow of rivers teaches us how to utilize our strengths for the betterment of humanity. This spirit of selfless service, dedication, and altruism gives the nation a new direction.”
PM Modi also shared a Sanskrit verse: “जीवनं स्वं परार्थाय नित्यं यच्छत मानवाः. इति सन्देशमाख्यातुं समुद्रं यान्ति निम्नगाः॥” The Hindi translation emphasizes that humans should dedicate their lives to serving and uplifting others. Just as rivers flow selflessly, nourishing countless lives before merging into the sea, individuals should use their lives and strengths for the benefit of others. True meaning in human life lies in selfless service, altruism, and public welfare.
