New Delhi, August 25: Alok Kumar, the president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has expressed support for the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to investigate alleged irregularities in 558 funded madrasas. He emphasized that madrasas should not be viewed merely as shelters for underprivileged children but as sacred spaces for education. Kumar insisted that these institutions must maintain proper facilities and cleanliness, stating that those who are genuine should not object to the investigation.
He remarked, “Those who are authentic will have no issues with the inquiry. Where education is being conducted properly, there should be basic amenities, a clean kitchen, ample study space, and arrangements for students to sleep at night.”
Kumar affirmed that the directive is justified, as madrasas should be regarded as places dedicated to learning. It is the responsibility of those running these institutions to ensure adequate provisions for their students. He reiterated support for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s orders.
In response to a fish feast organized during a welcome ceremony for Ajay Rai, the president of the Congress’s Uttar Pradesh unit in Ayodhya, Kumar commented, “I believe Congress leaders are trying very hard to portray themselves as devotees of Lord Ram and are quite disturbed by the events in Ayodhya. Ajay Rai has visited Ayodhya before but was stopped, claiming he was being prevented from worshipping and seeking blessings.”
Regarding the incident of eggs being thrown at a Ganesh procession in Mumbai, Kumar stated, “Eggs were thrown from the roof of a nearby building at the idol and those carrying it. Preliminary information suggests this was done by individuals from another community. We must consider who will be responsible for the consequences of such provocative actions.”
He concluded by stating that communal harmony cannot be one-sided. If someone creates disturbances or insults our sentiments by throwing eggs, the Hindu community cannot always be expected to tolerate such behavior.
