New Delhi, June 9: The BJP has celebrated the 12-year milestone of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, highlighting it as a period of development, trust, and public welfare. National General Secretary Arun Singh and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra emphasized the government’s achievements in uplifting the poor, expanding basic facilities, and enforcing a strict anti-corruption policy.
In an interview with a news agency, Arun Singh stated that under Modi’s leadership, the country has witnessed unprecedented growth, and public trust has strengthened. He noted that the situation before 2014 was starkly different, with millions of poor citizens lacking bank accounts. Today, over 540 million Jan Dhan accounts have been opened, promoting digital transactions and ensuring that government benefits reach the intended recipients.
Singh highlighted initiatives like the Ujjwala Yojana, which has provided gas connections to households, and the Nal Se Jal scheme, which has improved the living standards of poor families. He asserted that the development achieved during Modi’s 12 years will be recorded in the nation’s golden history.
Responding to opposition criticism of Modi’s tenure, Singh remarked that the opposition lacks substantial issues to raise, leading them to make baseless allegations. He pointed out that under Modi’s leadership, 250 million people have risen above the poverty line, over 40 million permanent homes have been constructed, and around 600 million individuals have benefited from the Ayushman Bharat health scheme. If the opposition fails to recognize these accomplishments, there is little the government can do.
Harsh Malhotra, the Delhi BJP President, referred to Modi’s 12 years in office as a period of development, trust, and public welfare. He recalled that upon taking office in 2014, Modi made it clear that his government would be dedicated to the poor, and he has fulfilled that promise over the years. Thanks to Modi’s visionary policies and over 200 welfare schemes, 1.4 billion citizens have benefited directly or indirectly, with more than 250 million people lifted out of poverty.
Malhotra contrasted the previous government’s “Remove Poverty” slogan with Modi’s tangible efforts to bring real change to the lives of the poor. He noted that over 120 million toilets have been built to promote women’s dignity and sanitation. More than 40 million families have received permanent housing, and over 120 million beneficiaries have been provided gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme. The Digital India initiative has accelerated digital transactions, and through the Ayushman Bharat scheme, poor families receive free medical treatment up to five lakh rupees, with this amount reaching ten lakh rupees in Delhi.
He also mentioned the expansion of the country’s infrastructure, including an increase in the number of airports, more MBBS and PG seats in medical education, and the growth of higher education institutions. The development of the road network has significantly improved connectivity across the nation.
In response to allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal regarding Enforcement Directorate raids in Punjab, Malhotra reiterated the Modi government’s clear stance against corruption. He stated that those who engage in theft and corruption will not be spared, emphasizing Modi’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and affirming that the law will take its course.
