Fugitive Murder Suspect Arrested After 40 Years on the Run

Mumbai, August 23: The Mumbai police have apprehended a 59-year-old man who had been evading justice for nearly four decades in a murder case. Authorities identified the suspect as Suresh Chandar Adagale. He was arrested on August 20 by the Sakina Police Station in the Ranjangaon area of Shirur, Pune district, following extensive searches and investigations.

According to police reports, Adagale was initially arrested for murder at the age of 19. He was later granted bail by the court, which instructed him to appear for further proceedings. However, he failed to show up in court. After repeated absences, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him. Subsequently, he vanished, and for almost 40 years, his whereabouts remained unknown.

The Sakina Police have been on a relentless pursuit of him over the years. A special police team dedicated to locating fugitives recently took over the case. On August 20, officers and personnel from the Sakina Police Station used technical surveillance and information from confidential sources to track down the suspect’s location.

Investigations revealed that Adagale had been living under an assumed identity in the Ranjangaon area of Shirur, Pune district, to avoid capture. Upon receiving this information, a team from the Sakina Police swiftly arrived at the scene and set up a trap at his new address. They successfully arrested him nearly four decades after he failed to appear in court following his release on bail.

Adagale is now in police custody, and legal proceedings are underway as per court orders.
