Modi and Mitsotakis Discuss Investment Opportunities in New Delhi Meeting

New Delhi, February 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Greece, on Thursday. Mitsotakis is in India from February 18 to 19 to participate in the India AI Impact Summit 2026. He was accompanied by Digital Governance Minister Dimitrios Papastergiou and a delegation of senior officials.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement regarding the meeting. It noted that both leaders reviewed their bilateral strategic partnership, highlighting its continuous growth across various sectors. They exchanged views on regional and global issues and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in new areas. Both leaders appreciated recent connectivity initiatives and the potential for further enhancement under the IMEC framework.

They agreed that recent high-level visits have given new momentum to their strategic partnership and that the recently concluded India-EU FTA will open new avenues for trade and investment between the two nations.

This marks Mitsotakis’s second visit to India. He previously made a state visit in February 2024, which was the first by a Greek head of government to India in 15 years. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi visited Athens on August 25, 2023, during which the bilateral relations were elevated to a strategic partnership.

The MEA highlighted the significance of this meeting on the social media platform X, emphasizing the in-depth discussions on strengthening the partnership between the two countries. Modi expressed gratitude to the Greek Prime Minister for Greece’s support on the issue of terrorism.
