Itanagar, June 14: A significant step has been taken to connect the country’s border and remote areas with the mainstream of development. The Indian Army and a private telecom company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance mobile connectivity in the challenging terrains of the Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh.
Defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat announced on Sunday that this initiative is a vital move towards nation-building through military and civilian collaboration. The agreement aims to develop communication infrastructure and provide mobile network services in the remote and border areas of western Arunachal Pradesh’s Kameng district.
This project will bring mobile connectivity to villages and communities that have been deprived of communication facilities for over a decade. It addresses a significant need in the strategically important border areas of the country.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Rawat, the availability of mobile networks will improve access to government services, digital education, healthcare, banking, and other financial services for the local population. This initiative is expected to enhance the living standards of residents.
He added that better connectivity will also promote tourism and create new economic opportunities in the region. This is anticipated to boost local employment and socio-economic development.
The defense spokesperson noted that a robust communication system will play a crucial role in linking border villages to the nation’s mainstream. This initiative aligns with the central government’s goal of inclusive development.
The Indian Army views this partnership as a significant step towards building sustainable infrastructure in border areas and realizing the national vision of ‘Developed India 2047.’
