Minister Advocates for Non-Political Figures to Inaugurate Durga Puja Celebrations

Dilip Ghosh suggests social leaders should inaugurate Durga Puja instead of politicians, emphasizing community involvement.

Kolkata, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Kolkata’s Minister Dilip Ghosh expressed his belief that Durga Puja inaugurations should be conducted by socially and academically accomplished individuals rather than politicians. Speaking to reporters, Ghosh, a member of the West Bengal government, emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state leadership has advised its members to avoid excessive interference in Durga Puja committees, a practice often associated with the Trinamool Congress.

Ghosh stated that he would refrain from attending any Durga Puja inaugurations linked to political figures. He believes that it is more appropriate for the ceremonies to be led by individuals who have achieved success in social, educational, or intellectual fields.

He suggested that recipients of prestigious awards, such as the Padma Awards, would be ideal candidates to inaugurate the festivities. Ghosh noted that individuals who have made significant contributions without political affiliations are often the best choices for such roles. He also mentioned that respected religious figures, including saints, could play a part in the inauguration process.

Furthermore, Ghosh highlighted the importance of recognizing lesser-known individuals who tirelessly work for community welfare in remote areas. He urged Puja committees to consider these unsung heroes, giving them a platform to gain recognition as true role models for society.

In addition, Ghosh advocated for the inclusion of prominent sports personalities in the inauguration ceremonies. He pointed out that during the Trinamool Congress’s tenure, there were frequent accusations of monopolization by ruling party leaders over various community Durga Puja committees, with influential members controlling multiple committees at once.

He advised BJP representatives to maintain limited relationships with Puja committees in their respective areas, promoting a more community-focused approach to the celebrations.
