Megan Schutt Achieves Milestone as Third Australian Bowler to Claim 150 ODI Wickets

Brisbane, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Australian fast bowler Megan Schutt has reached a significant milestone, becoming the third Australian woman to take 150 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs). This achievement came during the first ODI against the Bangladesh women’s team at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on October 9, 2026.

Entering the match, the 33-year-old needed just two wickets to reach this landmark. She made her mark right from the start, dismissing Farzana Haque with the very first ball of the series. Schutt’s delivery, which pitched back of a length and swung in, caught the edge of Haque’s bat and was caught by Phoebe Litchfield in slip.

Schutt secured her milestone in the third over by bowling Sharmeen Sultana with a full-length delivery that swung in sharply. Sultana attempted a flick shot but ended up getting bowled, resulting in an LBW decision from the umpire.

With this achievement, Schutt becomes the 12th player overall to reach 150 ODI wickets. Leading the list is India’s Jhulan Goswami with 255 wickets, while Australia’s Catherine Fitzpatrick and Ellyse Perry follow with 180 and 166 wickets, respectively.

In the match, Bangladesh batted first and was bowled out for 166 runs in 49.4 overs. Annabel Sutherland led Australia’s bowling attack with four wickets, while Ashley Gardner, vice-captain Tahlia McGrath, and Georgia Wareham each took one wicket. Australia chased down the target of 167 runs comfortably, losing just three wickets in 25.4 overs, with Litchfield shining with a remarkable 77 runs off 57 balls.
