Patna, August 24: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced on Sunday that the state government is making continuous efforts to connect youth with employment and skill development. At the Mega Job Fair 2026 held at Gyan Bhawan in Patna, over 115 employers participated, providing job opportunities to 20,226 young men and women.
Among those employed, 3,940 found jobs within Bihar, while 476 secured positions abroad. Additionally, 36 differently-abled individuals also received employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the job fair’s closing ceremony and distribution of appointment letters by lighting a lamp. He inspected various company stalls and interacted with young job seekers to gather information about their career aspirations. He also learned about the assistance provided to youth in job searching through AI-based kiosks.
Samrat Chaudhary distributed appointment letters to selected candidates and honored employers who excelled in the Chief Minister’s Pledge Internship program. He recognized the India Skill winners from Bihar who will represent India at the World Skills Competition 2026 in Shanghai, China. During the event, a coffee table book based on the job fair was launched, along with a short film presentation.
The Chief Minister stated that starting next year, job fairs will be organized in every district of Bihar. He emphasized the government’s goal of connecting one crore people with jobs and employment over the next five years. The government aims to ensure that Bihar’s youth do not have to migrate to other states for employment.
He also mentioned the request made to the central government for establishing a World Trade Center in Patna. Through the Bihar Skill Development Mission, 2.5 million youths have been trained, and 1.2 million have received certificates under the Skilled Youth Program. The youth are being provided with technical education and language training to facilitate job opportunities abroad.
The Chief Minister highlighted that rapid progress is being made in the fields of industry, infrastructure, and employment within the state. He noted that work is underway to develop a 126-kilometer-long Marine Drive through public-private partnerships. He urged the youth to become skilled and continue learning.
During the event, training centers for the rehabilitation of individuals recovering from mental illness, skill development for differently-abled individuals, and livelihood enhancement for the transgender community were also inaugurated. The program was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Minister Arun Shankar Prasad, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, along with numerous officials, employers, and a large number of youth.
