Mumbai: The film ‘Border-2’, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, is enjoying strong box office success. While much attention is on the lead actors, Medha Rana has also played an important role in the film.
Medha portrays Dhanwanti Devi, the wife of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. Few know that Medha herself comes from an army family and has personally experienced the fears and emotions depicted in the film.
Speaking about her selection for ‘Border-2’, Medha shared, “When I first received the call, I was overwhelmed with joy and tears. I had given several rounds of auditions, and when casting director Mr. Chhabra informed me that I was selected, it was the happiest moment of my life. I never imagined I would get a chance in such a big film. After working on it, I am slowly gaining confidence in myself.”
Discussing her character, she said, “Dhanwanti Devi is emotionally very strong, representing the courage of wives who risk everything for the country. When I first read the script, I understood that the role carried great responsibility and deep emotions.”
Medha added, “My family has served in the army for three generations, and my father is still serving. That made it my duty to portray this role with full responsibility. We have lived the emotions shown in the film.”
On what sets ‘Border-2’ apart from the original, Medha explained, “Each character in the film is unique, filled with emotion and bravery. The film showcases love, emotions, family bonds, and courage, especially the uncertainty of when one might return. All four characters come together to complete the story.”
She also revealed how she prepared for the role, saying, “My grandmother lived through those times—my mother was born in 1971 while my grandfather was posted in Bangladesh. My grandmother shared many stories and tips that greatly helped me in portraying the character.”
Talking about working with Varun Dhawan, Medha said, “It was enjoyable and a great learning experience. I was nervous on the first day, but Varun helped me a lot.”
