Mayawati Urges Constructive Debate Ahead of Monsoon Session

Lucknow, July 19: Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has called on both the ruling and opposition parties to rise above political conflicts and engage in serious discussions on public interest issues. The party emphasized the need to address pressing matters such as inflation, unemployment, women’s safety, exam paper leaks, the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation issue, corruption, and the economy, aiming for effective solutions that can alleviate the problems faced by the common people.

BSP leader Mayawati took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express her concerns as the Monsoon Session is set to commence on July 20. She questioned whether this session would again be marred by disruptions and chaos or if it would focus on resolving critical issues like soaring inflation, poverty, unemployment, and women’s insecurity, as well as the recent exam paper leaks that have stirred public unrest.

She further noted that widespread public outrage over issues such as the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple has shaken both Uttar Pradesh and the nation. Citizens are holding accountable those who politicize religion for electoral gain, and this sentiment is resonating from the streets to the courts, indicating that this topic will likely be a hot button issue in Parliament.

Mayawati also highlighted the aftermath of the recent assembly elections in West Bengal, the rising incidents of maternal mortality in Rajasthan due to government negligence, and increasing women’s insecurity across various states. She pointed out the significant irregularities in election promises and the corruption prevalent in government schemes, along with the troubling trend of police encounters and the demolition of long-established communities.

Moreover, she mentioned that ongoing conflicts involving the U.S. and Israel against Iran, as well as the depreciation of the Indian rupee, are severely impacting India’s economy and the lives of its citizens. She urged both the government and the opposition to set aside political animosity and work together to find effective solutions to these pressing issues. Failure to do so could lead to a worsening situation for the nearly 1.4 billion people in the country, putting their future at risk.

Mayawati stressed that, given the significant challenges facing the nation, it is crucial for the Monsoon Session to proceed without agitation, anger, or hostility, adhering to the principles of a healthy democratic tradition. She emphasized that all institutions must strive to ensure that the burdens and daily struggles of the Indian populace do not increase further.

She concluded by asserting that Parliament must take these urgent national issues seriously, and starting with the current Monsoon Session would be a positive step towards effective governance that prioritizes the public’s welfare.
