Lucknow, March 17: The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has demanded that the founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Kanshi Ram, be awarded the Bharat Ratna. He has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this request. In response, BSP chief Mayawati has targeted both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP).
Mayawati took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express her views, stating that the Congress and SP are anti-Dalit parties. As the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections approach, these parties are attempting to celebrate Kanshi Ram’s birth anniversary for their electoral gain. She criticized Congress for seeking the Bharat Ratna for Kanshi Ram while being part of the central government that has not conferred this honor.
She emphasized that these parties have consistently aimed to undermine the BSP, a party founded by Kanshi Ram, which she claims no one can destabilize during her leadership. Mayawati further pointed out that it appears these parties lack respect for their own leaders, as they now seek to exploit the legacy of Kanshi Ram, who was often disregarded by them during his lifetime.
Additionally, Mayawati noted that many initiatives taken by the BSP government in honor of Dalit leaders have been altered by the SP government. She described this behavior as hypocritical and advised the Dalit supporters of the SP and Congress to remain silent for their own good. She also referenced a book written by Kanshi Ram titled ‘Chamcha Yuga,’ which addresses the issue of sycophancy.
