Sikar, August 5: On the occasion of Shukla Paksha Ekadashi during the holy month of Sawan, the sacred town of Khatu Nagari witnessed the beginning of a grand two-day fair on Tuesday, drawing lakhs of devotees seeking blessings from Baba Shyam, also known as the “Hope of the Defeated”. The fair will conclude on Dwadashi with offerings of kheer and churma.

From Ringas to Khatu Dham, a massive wave of faith surged as an estimated over 5 lakh devotees thronged the shrine on the very first day. The atmosphere was filled with chants of “Shyam Baba Ki Jai”, as thousands of devotees undertook a 17-km foot pilgrimage carrying saffron flags in devotion.

Special ‘Hariyali Shringar’ Enthralls Devotees

Marking the lush greenery of Sawan, Baba Shyam was adorned in a special Hariyali Shringar that captivated all who witnessed it. Devotees believe that a mere glimpse of this divine form can dispel all their sorrows. The shrine was decorated with green-themed floral arrangements, presenting a spectacular spiritual sight.

Since early morning, Ringas Railway Station saw overwhelming crowds with fully packed trains arriving continuously. Long queues of devotees with red roses in hand were seen waiting patiently for their turn to offer prayers at the Khatu Shyam temple.

VIP Darshan Suspended for Fair Days

To facilitate better access for general devotees, the Shyam Mandir Committee has decided to suspend VIP darshan for both days of the fair. This move has been widely appreciated by the public.

Robust Arrangements by Administration

Given the huge turnout, both the temple committee and district administration have implemented robust crowd management and safety measures. Over 300 temple guards have been deployed, along with full support from the local police. Sub-Divisional Officer Monika Simour is personally overseeing arrangements, while Khatu Shyamji SHO Pawan Chaubey and temple committee minister Manvendra Singh Chauhan have urged devotees to maintain cleanliness and ensure peaceful darshan.

All hotels, dharamshalas, and guest houses from Ringas to Khatu Dham are packed to capacity with Shyam devotees.
