New Delhi, August 8: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised President Donald Trump, calling him the ‘President of Peace.’ He highlighted the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X,’ Rubio stated that President Trump is indeed the ‘President of Peace.’ Exactly one year ago, during a crucial meeting at the White House, Trump facilitated peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a historic joint declaration, marking a significant achievement for both nations.
One year ago, President Trump witnessed the signing of this declaration at the White House, which ended decades of conflict in the South Caucasus and initiated the Trump Roots for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).
Over the past twelve months, the United States has worked alongside Armenia and Azerbaijan to turn that promise into progress. TRIPP is a multi-modal transit route aimed at modernizing rail, road, energy, and digital infrastructure. Engineering surveys for railways in Armenia are already underway, and Azerbaijan has nearly completed the construction of highways and rail lines connecting to Armenia.
This peace has opened doors to strengthen relations between the United States, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, boosting economic prosperity in all three countries. Today, I am pleased to announce that the Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund has been launched and is being operated by a newly elected board. The U.S. government has invested $201 million to promote private sector investment along the Trans-Caspian trade route (Middle Corridor) in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
This progress reflects a simple truth: peace and prosperity reinforce each other. TRIPP is not just an infrastructure project; it is a vital link in the Trans-Caspian trade route, a catalyst for commercial opportunities for the United States and other nations, and a prime example of how economic cooperation can solidify peace after long-standing disputes.
The U.S. is fully committed to working with Armenia and Azerbaijan to build on this foundation. We congratulate both nations for their courage and vision over the past year and look forward to continued progress toward lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
