Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim Congratulates PM Modi on Historic Achievement

New Delhi, June 10: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has extended heartfelt congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving the historic milestone of being the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, Anwar Ibrahim highlighted that this achievement reflects Prime Minister Modi’s “years of dedicated public service and leadership that has fostered India’s development, prosperity, and strengthened its position on the global stage.”

He also acknowledged the long-standing friendly relations between India and Malaysia, expressing a desire to further enhance cooperation between the two nations. Anwar Ibrahim stated his eagerness to advance partnerships with India that would create new opportunities for the people of both countries.

Wishing Prime Minister Modi continued success, he also conveyed his hopes for peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of India.

This congratulatory message comes at a time when Prime Minister Modi has completed 12 years in office, setting the record as India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. His tenure began in 2014 and has continued through successive electoral mandates in 2019 and 2024.

Prime Minister Modi has surpassed the record of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, completing 4,399 days in office as an elected leader. Nehru’s tenure is considered to have started in 1952, following his leadership of the interim government from 1947 to 1952, after which the first general elections were held.

While former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi served for over 14 years in total, her time in office was not continuous. This distinction solidifies Narendra Modi’s position as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
