Major Violations at Atal Hospital in Sehore Raise Concerns

Sehore, June 23: A shocking case of negligence has emerged from Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, involving a private hospital known as Atal Hospital (Ganga Ashram, Sehore). The hospital has been operating in two separate premises in violation of regulations.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) office has issued a notice regarding this matter. The notice indicates that Atal Hospital was initially granted permission to operate only in the ‘Rai Complex Building.’ However, the hospital management has flouted the rules by starting operations in Block ‘A’ (Rai Complex) and Block ‘B’ (HDFC Bank premises), which are in entirely different buildings and locations.

According to regulations, Blocks ‘A’ and ‘B’ of a hospital must be located within the same premises but in separate buildings. This situation raises serious questions about the functioning of the health department, as the hospital has been operating illegally for quite some time.

Dr. Sudhir Kumar Dehariya, the CMHO, has directed the hospital operator to shut down the illegal setup at the Rai Complex (the old location) within a week and to provide an explanation within three days. Failure to comply with these directives will result in the immediate cancellation of the hospital’s registration license.

Legal action against the hospital has been mentioned under the Madhya Pradesh Treatment Homes and Rehabilitation Homes Establishments Act of 1973 (Amended 2022).

While administrative action has been initiated with the issuance of this notice, the question remains: Is this merely a bureaucratic formality, or will there be genuine enforcement? The residents of Sehore are eager to see accountability for unruly private hospitals.
