Bokaro, April 2: The police in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, have achieved a significant breakthrough against two interstate criminal gangs involved in extortion and creating terror. Authorities have arrested seven criminals linked to the notorious Prince Khan and Aman Sahu gangs.
During the operation, the main conspirator, Prince Kumar Gupta, also known as Bhatia, was injured by police gunfire and has been admitted to Bokaro General Hospital for treatment. Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh announced the arrests during a press conference on Thursday, identifying the apprehended individuals as Prince Kumar Gupta, Shyam Kumar Singh, Ajay Singh, Omprakash Pal, Jainendra Shukla, Golu Kumar, and Bhupendra Singh.
The police team encountered resistance when they arrived at the location indicated by Prince Gupta to recover weapons. The criminals opened fire, resulting in a gunshot wound to Prince’s leg, allowing the police to apprehend him.
According to the SP, this gang operated in a highly organized manner. The arrested criminals collected mobile numbers of prominent local businessmen, contractors, and land dealers, relaying them to their leaders Rahul Dubey, Mayank Singh, and Prince Khan. After obtaining these numbers, extortion calls were made from abroad or prisons. The responsibility for collecting the extortion money also fell to these local henchmen.
Police recovered several mobile phones, various company SIM cards, and weapons used in the extortion from the gang members. Recently, Bokaro businessmen had been receiving threatening calls and messages from an individual named Prakash Shukla, creating an atmosphere of fear in the industrial town. Given the seriousness of the situation, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of the city DSP.
The SIT laid a trap based on technical evidence, dismantling the networks of both gangs and successfully capturing all seven criminals.
