New Delhi, April 4: The Mumbai Indians (MI) set a target of 163 runs for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Surya Kumar Yadav’s half-century was a highlight of the innings.
DC won the toss and opted to field first, inviting MI to bat. MI started steadily, but Mukesh Kumar put them on the back foot in the third over.
On the third ball of the over, Ryan Rickelton was caught by Axar Patel for 9 runs. On the fifth ball, Tilak Varma was caught off Mukesh Kumar’s own bowling without scoring.
At this point, MI had lost two wickets for just 18 runs. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav took charge as captain and formed a crucial partnership of 53 runs with Rohit Sharma for the third wicket off 40 balls.
