Patna, July 16: In a significant development in the Bunty Yadav murder case, Patna police have taken decisive action. The main suspect, Ravish Kumar, was injured in an encounter with the police near the banks of the Ganges at Marine Drive in the Buddha Colony area. He sustained a gunshot wound below his right knee and has been transported to the hospital for treatment.
SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma informed reporters about the encounter, stating, “We were actively searching for Ravish, the primary suspect in the kidnapping case. We received intelligence that he was planning to flee to Nepal with money. It was also revealed that he had crossed the river by boat, prompting us to conduct checks at various ghats. When he reached this location, he encountered the police. Upon being instructed to stop, he opened fire.”
The SSP reported that Ravish’s gunfire struck a police vehicle, prompting a retaliatory response from the officers, resulting in his injury. He was immediately taken to the hospital and is currently out of danger. Once discharged, he will be interrogated, and further legal action will follow. The SSP noted that there has been an ongoing power struggle among these individuals, and Ravish has a prior history of incarceration related to alcohol offenses.
He further explained that the issues between the involved parties had escalated into violence. The murder case of Bunty Yadav also implicates four other individuals, and efforts to apprehend them are underway.
Bunty Yadav, a resident of New Karbigahia in Patna, was kidnapped and subsequently murdered. Following this incident, questions arose regarding police procedures, leading to the immediate suspension of four officers for alleged negligence during the kidnapping.
