Srinagar, July 20: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar police seized ten properties valued at approximately ₹8 crore on Monday. This operation is part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukti Jammu-Kashmir Abhiyan’ aimed at combating drug-related crimes.
The police action took place in the Nowhatta area under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Among the seized properties is a two-story house belonging to notorious drug trafficker Sajjad Ahmad Sheikh, valued at around ₹85 lakh. Other properties seized include a two-story residential house owned by Hazra Begum (valued at approximately ₹55 lakh), a four-story building owned by Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh alias Gullu (valued at ₹75 lakh), and a single-story house belonging to Fahmida alias Famba (valued at around ₹55 lakh).
Additionally, the police confiscated a two-story house worth ₹75 lakh owned by Abdul Ahmad Sheikh and a three-story residential property owned by Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, valued at approximately ₹90 lakh. The properties of the accused, Altaf Ahmad Sheikh (valued at ₹90 lakh), Haider Ali Wani (two-story house worth around ₹85 lakh), Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh (three-story house valued at approximately ₹95 lakh), and Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh (two-story house worth around ₹95 lakh) were also seized.
Authorities reported that these individuals amassed properties worth an estimated ₹8 crore through illegal drug trafficking. The seizures aim to dismantle the financial framework of the drug network and deprive criminals of the profits from their illicit activities.
Srinagar police have urged the public to continue supporting the anti-drug campaign by sharing any information related to drug trafficking with the nearest police station or through a dedicated helpline. The identities of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
