Violence Erupts During CJP Protest in New Delhi, Over 118 Police Officers Injured

New Delhi, July 20: Tensions escalated in New Delhi on Monday as violence broke out during a protest organized by the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP). According to the Delhi Police, demonstrators exhibited aggressive and violent behavior, resulting in injuries to over 118 police officers and personnel. Approximately 70 protesters have been detained, with various charges being filed against them.

The Delhi Police reported that warnings and legal directives were issued repeatedly during the protest. However, protesters refused to disperse and deliberately violated the imposed prohibitory orders.

During the unrest, protesters hurled stones and attacked police personnel with various objects. They attempted to breach police barricades, vandalized police and government vehicles, and caused damage to public property. The widespread violence posed a serious threat to law and order, security arrangements, and the safety of police officers on duty.

Among the injured were high-ranking officials, including the Special Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Assistant Commissioner of Police. Several female police officers were also among the injured.

Reports indicate that around 60 protesters sustained injuries during the clashes. The injured police personnel are undergoing medical-legal examinations.

The Delhi Police stated that the violent crowd inflicted significant damage to public property, including vandalism of 15 to 20 government vehicles and other state assets.

So far, approximately 70 protesters have been detained. They are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rioting, assaulting government employees, damaging public property, and other offenses.

The Delhi Police affirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order in the capital and ensuring the safety of citizens. Strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in violence and illegal activities.
