Gaya, March 26: A significant operation against illegal mining in Bihar’s Gaya district has yielded impressive results for the mining department and police. During a raid in the Barachatti police station area, a large quantity of illegal coal was seized, while a tractor loaded with illegal sand was captured in the Atri police station area.
A police official reported on Thursday that they received information about substantial illegal coal storage and transportation in several villages within the Barachatti police station area. Acting on this tip-off, a joint team from the mining department, police, and administration conducted raids in the villages of Chetia and Bhalua.
During the investigation, authorities discovered significant amounts of illegally stored coal at various locations. The individuals involved failed to present any valid documents or transport permits to the administration.
Approximately 13,000 cubic feet of coal was recovered from these areas. Additionally, five loader machines, seven trucks, and two tractors involved in the illegal coal trade were confiscated. The vehicle drivers managed to flee the scene during the operation. Based on the banners and information displayed at the sites, cases have been registered against all individuals involved in the illegal storage, and fines totaling around 1.5 crore rupees have been imposed.
The district administration is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining, transportation, and storage. Future operations of this nature will continue. Meanwhile, following reports of illegal sand mining in the Atri police station area, police conducted raids and seized a tractor and trolley loaded with sand.
