Jamnagar, March 26: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sharply criticized both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress for their governance records in Gujarat. The party claims that these two parties have failed to address major public issues over the past three decades.
Addressing the ‘Vijay Vishwas Sabha’, AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated that both the BJP and Congress have been ineffective in governance. He accused them of allowing systemic issues, such as corruption and infrastructure deficiencies, to persist. Kejriwal questioned whether the opposition is effectively challenging the ruling party.
He asserted that corruption is rampant, and the condition of public infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, roads, and bridges, has deteriorated significantly. He raised concerns about the utilization of the state’s annual budget, claiming that corruption is prevalent and that no work gets done without financial incentives.
Kejriwal emphasized that he came to discuss Gujarat’s future, urging supporters to spread this message to rural areas while outlining four key policy areas. He referenced developments in Punjab since AAP came to power in 2022, highlighting that farmers now receive daytime electricity and that crop purchases are paid for on the same day.
He insisted that Gujarat’s farmers should also receive daytime electricity and immediate payments for their produce. Furthermore, he pointed out that public health services in Gujarat are inadequate, citing Punjab’s health insurance scheme, which offers coverage of up to 1 million rupees per family, including treatment in private hospitals.
Kejriwal argued that if the treatment for chief ministers and ministers is free, then farmers, laborers, and traders should also receive free healthcare. On the electricity issue, he noted that households in Punjab receive free electricity, contrasting it with the high rates in Gujarat.
He also mentioned a scheme in Punjab that provides women with 1,000 rupees per month, stating that similar measures could be implemented in Gujarat if AAP comes to power.
