New Delhi, March 26: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has sharply criticized former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following the release of a video related to the ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ She stated that the truth can no longer be concealed. What has been hidden for years is now exposed to the people of Delhi.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the residents of Delhi have long awaited the truth about ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ With the video’s release, it is evident how those who came to power in the name of the ‘common man’ have constructed a royal palace using public funds. The ‘Sheesh Mahal’ is not just a building; it stands as a living testament to corruption, arrogance, and betrayal of public trust. It also symbolizes moral decay.
Rekha Gupta pointed out that the visuals in the video reveal the extent of luxury achieved through the abuse of power. She urged the people of Delhi to see how those they elected to serve them have created a world of comfort at the expense of public money. She noted that those who claimed they would not take cars or bungalows have built a palace behind the scenes, where the common man has no place.
The Chief Minister raised serious questions about the expenses incurred in constructing the ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ What was initially projected to cost around 8 crore rupees has ballooned to 62 crore rupees. This increase indicates significant financial irregularities. She detailed that the palace includes 50 air conditioners, numerous fans, expensive interiors, foreign coffee machines, high-end equipment, and facilities worth millions of rupees. Additionally, several private consultants were hired for various tasks, further escalating costs.
Rekha Gupta stated that what has emerged in the name of ‘Sheesh Mahal’ marks a dark chapter of corruption in Delhi’s history. The exorbitant expenses, luxury amenities, costly equipment, and a multitude of private consultants illustrate a complete disregard for rules and ethics. She remarked that while the people of Delhi were grappling with a pandemic and economic crisis, those in power were busy decorating their palaces and commissioning ‘world-class’ interiors. This is not merely financial irregularity; it is a betrayal of public trust.
The Chief Minister appealed to the residents of Delhi to watch the video and decide for themselves what has transpired. The people have every right to know how their money has been used by those they elected to serve them.
Rekha Gupta reiterated that her government will not spare anyone found guilty in this matter. She confirmed that an investigation has already been initiated, with a detailed inquiry being ensured through the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The Delhi government will account for every single rupee of public money. Strict action will be taken against anyone found culpable. This government is committed to transparency, accountability, and safeguarding public trust.
