Major Crackdown on Drug Network by Poonch Police in Jammu and Kashmir

Poonch, April 18: In a significant move under the campaign for a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, the Poonch district police have taken a strong stance against narcotics. Teams from Mendhar police conducted simultaneous search operations to dismantle emerging drug trafficking networks and curb illegal activities in the region.

According to a press release issued by the police on Saturday, searches were conducted at the residences of accused individuals Abid Ali (son of Zaffar Iqbal) and Sajid Ali (son of Mohammad Hafeez) in the village of Golhad, Mendhar tehsil. Both suspects had previously been arrested under various sections of the NDPS Act as per FIR number 31/2025.

Expanding the scope of their operations, the police also searched the homes of suspicious individuals Ghulam Rasool (son of Sikandar Azam) and Sadar-ud-Din (son of Faiz Alam), also residents of Golhad village. This action aims to identify and eradicate drug-related activities in the area.

Police officials stated that all search operations were conducted transparently and professionally, following due legal procedures after obtaining warrants from competent courts. The presence of magistrates and independent witnesses was ensured to comply fully with legal protocols.

The Poonch district police have reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, promising that such operations will continue to eliminate the roots of drug networks. They have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to assist in this campaign, aiming to free society from the adverse effects of narcotics.
