Tragic Death of Three-Year-Old Girl in Telangana Dog Attack

Hyderabad, April 20: A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Peddapalli district of Telangana on Monday, where a pack of stray dogs fatally attacked a three-year-old girl. The tragic event took place in the village of Katanapalli, located in the Sultanabad mandal, while the child was playing outside her home.

Witnesses reported that the stray dogs suddenly attacked the girl, dragging her by the neck into nearby fields. By the time local residents arrived to scare off the dogs, the innocent child had succumbed to severe injuries. The deceased girl has been identified as Divya Behera; her parents are migrant laborers from Odisha working at a local brick kiln.

This incident has sparked outrage among local residents and citizens, who are demanding immediate and effective measures from municipal authorities to control the growing threat of stray dogs. Notably, this tragedy occurred just a week after the death of a seven-year-old boy in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Previously, on April 1, a boy named Aditya was attacked by dogs while playing in front of his home. In an attempt to escape, he fell and suffered severe internal injuries, resulting in a blood clot in his brain. He passed away on April 16 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Several similar incidents in Telangana over recent years have raised serious concerns about public safety. In July 2024, an 18-month-old child was severely injured by stray dogs in the Jawahar Nagar area of Hyderabad, leading to the child’s death.

In May 2024, a five-month-old baby lost their life when a stray dog entered their home and attacked the sleeping infant. Last July, a third-grade student named Jadhav Prasad was also killed in a dog attack in the Neredmet area. These ongoing incidents have created an atmosphere of fear in the state.
