Raipur, June 7: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in Dantewada district, security forces have successfully seized a large cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and prohibited materials.
Police officials reported that based on precise intelligence, a battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Dantewada police conducted a joint search operation in the dense forests of Todma village, under the Barsur police station.
The operation commenced at 6:00 AM, led by Second-in-Command Officer Vikrant Verma and Assistant Commandant Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, with the involvement of civilian police forces.
During an intensive search, around 8:40 AM, the security forces spotted some suspicious objects in the forest. Following strict security protocols, the area was cordoned off, and a bomb disposal squad was summoned to the scene. After thorough investigation, the suspicious items were identified as two pressure cooker IEDs, each with a capacity of five liters, and a 10-kilogram pipe bomb.
Utilizing specialized technical procedures, the team successfully neutralized and destroyed all three devices on-site, averting a potential disaster.
Further searches in the vicinity uncovered a substantial stockpile of explosives and prohibited items hidden by Maoist operatives.
The seized items included BGL, a .303 rifle, an air rifle, magazines, charger clips, spent cartridge casings, 12-bore ammunition, empty cartridges, fireworks, batteries, wireless sets, explosives, cordex wire, electric bells, shock-wave detonators, 128 electric detonators, 48 non-electric explosives, two empty shells including a 51 mm bomb, binoculars, Naxalite uniforms, ammunition pouches, combat belts, a multimeter, camera flash, electric control units, 35 twelve-volt batteries, electric switches, telephone wires, and other daily-use materials.
Naxalite literature was also recovered, providing insights into their ideological framework. All personnel returned safely, and legal formalities related to the seizure have commenced.
Officials stated that this recovery highlights the vast resources amassed by the insurgents and underscores the importance of continuous intelligence-based operations.
Successfully neutralizing the IEDs and seizing the explosives marks another decisive step toward dismantling the Naxalite framework in the Bastar division, further enhancing the momentum of the campaign for lasting peace and security in the region.
