New Delhi, June 6: The Shalimar Bagh police in North West Delhi have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting two brothers involved in robbery and vehicle theft. The police recovered a motorcycle used in the robbery and two stolen scooters from the suspects. This operation has unveiled a total of three criminal cases, including one related to robbery.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 27-year-old Deepak and 25-year-old Kartik, both residents of the Haiderpur area. Investigations revealed that the brothers chose a life of crime in pursuit of quick and easy money. Deepak has a criminal record, having previously been involved in a case under the Arms Act, while this is Kartik’s first encounter with the law.
According to police reports, on June 4, a 22-year-old woman named Tamanna filed a complaint at the Shalimar Bagh police station. She stated that on the evening of June 2, while traveling in an e-rickshaw towards Rohini Court from Jail Road, two young men on a motorcycle snatched her mobile phone near a petrol pump close to Caspia Hotel and fled towards Madhuban Chowk.
Based on her complaint, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Shalimar Bagh police station, and an investigation commenced. Given the seriousness of the case, a special team was formed, led by Sub-Inspector Ved Prakash, Head Constable Kuldeep, and Constables Sadhuram and Subhash, under the supervision of Inspector Ram Pal and ACP Mukesh Walia.
During the investigation, police conducted a thorough analysis of CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby areas, and activated local informants. Based on technical and human intelligence, multiple raids were conducted, leading to the arrest of both suspects.
During interrogation, the brothers confessed to their involvement in the robbery. Following their lead, police recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, which was registered in Deepak’s name. Additionally, two stolen scooters were found, linked to theft cases registered at Keshav Puram and Rani Bagh police stations.
The police are now working to recover the stolen mobile phone and investigate the brothers’ potential involvement in other criminal activities. The investigation is ongoing.
