Raipur, May 12: In a significant operation in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, security forces have recovered over ₹1 crore in cash and a large cache of advanced weapons. This success is part of the ‘Mada Bachao Abhiyan’, aimed at eradicating Naxalism from the region.
The operation was made possible through a robust intelligence network and support from local villagers, who were once considered strongholds of the Naxalites. Narayanpur’s Superintendent of Police, Robinson Guria, confirmed that a joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, ITBP, and BSF conducted the operation in remote and sensitive areas.
The primary goal was to locate and dismantle secret hideouts used by Naxals to stash weapons and funds. The largest recovery amounted to ₹1,10,64,000, deemed a crucial part of the Naxal financial network.
Additionally, a significant amount of technical and military materials was seized, including 28 types of Naxal-related items. This haul featured three AK-47 rifles, three SLR rifles, and INSAS and .303 weapons. Hundreds of live cartridges, several magazines, and two improvised BGL launchers with over 100 shells were also confiscated.
Security forces seized electronic detonators, multiple bundles of cordex wire, and approximately 5 kilograms of saltpeter (potassium nitrate), severely undermining the Naxals’ capacity to create IEDs (improvised explosive devices).
Moreover, the recovery of high-quality communication devices like ‘Motorola sets’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ has disrupted the Naxals’ internal communication network.
Officials noted that the recovery of 270 weapons so far in the 2025-26 period highlights the effectiveness of security strategies against Naxalism in the area. The search operation continues, and police have urged the public to report any suspicious items hidden in the forests.
