Major Action Taken After Explosive Material Found During PM Modis Bengaluru Visit

Bengaluru, May 25: Significant action has been taken following the discovery of explosive materials during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bengaluru on May 10. Six police officers have been suspended by the orders of the Superintendent of Police for Bengaluru South (Ramnagar).

The suspended personnel include one police sub-inspector (PSI), one assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and four constables. They are accused of negligence in duty.

According to police officials, all suspended officers will remain on suspension until the investigation is complete. This incident came to light while Prime Minister Modi was in Bengaluru.

On May 10, suspicious materials were found approximately 20 feet away from an unpaved road adjacent to a forest area near Kanakapura Road. Items recovered from the site included two sticks of gelatin, six incense sticks, matches, cellophane tape, a battery pack, wires, and what appeared to be a circuit board.

Prime Minister Modi was in Bengaluru to participate in the 45th anniversary celebration of the ‘Art of Living’ organization and the 70th birthday celebration of its founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The explosive materials were discovered about an hour and a half before the Prime Minister’s arrival at the event, prompting security agencies to heighten their alertness.

The Kaggalipura police have registered an FIR under Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act and Section 9B of the Explosive Act. These sections pertain to actions involving the possession or attempt to explode explosives with the intent to cause harm to life and property.

However, no arrests have been made in this case so far, and the source of the explosive materials remains unidentified. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also arrived in Bengaluru from Delhi to assist with the investigation.
