Mumbai, 17 August (Kiran News). The Meteorological Department on Sunday issued a warning of heavy rainfall in Maharashtra from 17 to 21 August, with a red alert for the Pune ghat area for the next 24 hours. Additionally, orange alerts have been issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli districts, as well as Satara ghat and Kolhapur ghat areas. The State Emergency Operations Centre has instructed district administrations to remain alert during this period.

The Meteorological Department today stated that warnings of extremely heavy rainfall have been issued for 17 to 21 August, and citizens have been advised to stay cautious. Due to the warning of extremely heavy rain, district administrations have also been informed to take all necessary actions regarding landslides. The State Emergency Operations Centre has reported that fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as the sea conditions are rough and winds are expected to blow at speeds of 50–60 kilometres per hour.
The State Emergency Operations Centre has also reported that the Kundalika river in Raigad district has crossed the warning level. In Ratnagiri district, the Jagbudi river has crossed the danger mark and its water has entered the Khed–Dapoli road in Khed city. For safety reasons, traffic from Khed city to Dapoli has been stopped, and the district administration has issued an alert notice to citizens. Similarly, in Jalgaon district, 28,075 cusecs of water is currently being released from the Hatnur Dam into the Tapi river basin, and in Yavatmal district, 54,466 cusecs of water is being released from the Isapur Dam into the Penganga river basin.
The State Emergency Operations Centre has informed that the administration has instructed the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force to stay alert for emergency situations.
