Mumbai, May 8: Maharashtra BJP leader Chitra Wagh has expressed strong support for state government and police actions in response to the arrest of Nida Khan in connection with forced conversions and allegations of ‘love jihad’. She emphasized the seriousness of these issues, particularly the involvement of international companies in conversion activities, and stated that the government is taking strict measures against such practices.
In an interview with a news agency, Wagh noted that several arrests had already been made in this case, while Nida Khan had been evading capture for a long time before her recent arrest in Sambhajinagar.
Wagh asserted that it is the government’s responsibility to prevent such incidents, and the state administration is actively working in this direction. She claimed that companies like TCS are also being implicated in these matters. The police and government will take stringent action to curb any illegal conversions or activities that could disrupt society.
Responding to AIMIM leader Waris Pathan’s comments on ‘Vande Mataram’, Wagh stated that this song is deeply connected to the soul of India and deserves respect from every citizen. She expressed pride in the song receiving the honor of a national anthem and urged all citizens to sing it. Wagh also highlighted that the government’s approach prioritizes national interest and respect for Indian culture.
When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Somnath, Wagh remarked that the Somnath Temple is a center of faith and energy for millions of Indians. She described Modi’s visit as a highly positive and inspiring move, noting the extensive development and beautification efforts undertaken during his tenure, which have improved facilities for pilgrims from across the country and abroad.
Wagh also addressed the BJP’s significant electoral success in West Bengal and the recent murder of the personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. She accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of fostering an environment of political violence and intimidation in West Bengal for years, which the public has endured.
Despite the BJP receiving substantial public support in the elections, Wagh claimed that attacks on BJP workers continue in the state. However, she expressed confidence that the law and order situation would improve and political violence would be controlled in the future.
