Madhya Pradesh Sees Over 900,000 Suggestions for Uniform Civil Code

Bhopal, June 23: Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Chetan Kashyap announced that the state is actively seeking public suggestions for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), with over 900,000 responses received so far. A cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, during which several significant decisions were made.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Minister Kashyap revealed that nearly 90 percent of the suggestions received express support for the UCC. The draft of the UCC is expected to be ready by July 5. The Mohan Yadav government aims to present this draft during the upcoming assembly session in July, prompting the call for public input.

Recently, President Droupadi Murmu visited Madhya Pradesh, and Minister Kashyap highlighted her interest in the sickle cell elimination campaign. A special conference on sickle cell issues was held, where various aspects were discussed. Based on the suggestions and discussions from this conference, efforts are being made to enhance the effectiveness and speed of the campaign.

Minister Kashyap also noted that during her visit, President Murmu observed the cheetah conservation project at Kuno National Park and praised the state government’s efforts in wildlife conservation and cheetah reintroduction. In the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized the importance of the Jal Ganga conservation campaign, urging that large-scale programs be organized in all village panchayats from June 25 to 30. Instructions were also given to discuss the work completed under this campaign and to expedite any pending tasks.

According to recent data, Madhya Pradesh ranks third in the country for water conservation, demonstrating the state’s ongoing efforts. Regarding the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, Minister Kashyap shared that approximately 8.1 million farmers in Madhya Pradesh have received ₹240 crores under this initiative. This support is a crucial step towards enhancing farmers’ financial stability and promoting agricultural activities.
