Madhya Pradesh Approves ₹30,055 Crore for Development and Welfare Initiatives

Bhopal, May 20: The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a total financial package of ₹30,055 crore aimed at enhancing development projects and welfare schemes. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The cabinet took significant steps to benefit various segments of the state’s population, including the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities.

Among the key approvals, ₹15,184 crore has been allocated for pension schemes targeting senior citizens, widows, and the differently-abled. Additionally, ₹11,608.47 crore has been sanctioned for the continuous implementation of the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme, which aims to provide support to farmers affected by disasters.

The cabinet has approved financial assistance for farmers facing crop loss or damage under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme for the next five years, covering the financial years from 2026-27 to 2030-31.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved ₹15,184.42 crore for the pension scheme under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. This includes ₹2,123.42 crore for the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, which will be operational from April 1, 2026, for the next five years.

Under this scheme, eligible widows over the age of 40 living below the poverty line will receive a monthly pension of ₹600. The state government has also sanctioned ₹13,061 crore for the Comprehensive Social Security Pension Scheme, which will continue for the next five years starting from April 1, 2026.

Eligible beneficiaries include destitute elderly individuals over 60 years, widows over 18 years, and persons with disabilities aged over six with a disability of 40% or more, as well as unmarried women over 50, all of whom will receive a monthly pension of ₹600.

Additionally, the cabinet granted revised administrative approval of ₹593.24 crore for the Bundol and Nemawar group water supply schemes in Seoni and Dewas, respectively. The revised project cost for the Bundol water supply scheme has been approved at ₹266.17 crore, up from the original ₹232.57 crore. Similarly, the Nemawar water supply scheme’s revised cost is now ₹327.07 crore, an increase from the original ₹237 crore.
