
Bhopal, June 17: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav chaired a cabinet meeting on Tuesday at the ministry. The meeting approved proposals worth ₹24,200 crores aimed at accelerating infrastructure and public welfare in Madhya Pradesh. An additional funding of ₹19,472.29 crores was sanctioned for the Indore Metro Rail Project.
To enhance world-class super-specialty medical facilities and encourage philanthropic investments, the cabinet established a five-member subcommittee to implement the ‘Mega Health Service Infrastructure Incentive Policy-2026′. This committee will study all relevant aspects and provide a report. Additionally, a pilot project to outsource community health centers in Rewa, Dewas, and Guna was approved to strengthen rural health services.
For wildlife conservation and the displacement and compensation of 94 villages in sensitive areas, ₹2,381.15 crores have been allocated under the 16th Finance Commission for the period from 2026 to 2031. To promote social and economic inclusion, ₹687 crores were approved for educational and residential facilities for tribal students, along with ₹639.25 crores for various sericulture projects aimed at increasing local employment.
The cabinet approved a compensation scheme for Project Tiger and Elephant and the rehabilitation of villages, amounting to ₹2,381.15 crores for the period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031.
According to the approval, ₹1,131.15 crores were sanctioned for Project Tiger and Elephant (non-recurring), Project Tiger and Elephant (recurring), and Project Tiger and Elephant (Project Elephant). These initiatives will implement a management plan based on scientific principles for wildlife conservation, focusing on habitat improvement, fire and forest safety, water source development, maintenance of forest paths, construction and maintenance of necessary structures, elephant management and safety, procurement of rescue materials, camp construction, purchasing medicines, and arranging food for elephants.
For the village rehabilitation compensation scheme, ₹1,250 crores were approved. The primary objective of this scheme is to relocate villages adversely affecting sensitive wildlife habitats outside protected forest areas. The acquisition of villagers’ immovable properties will be conducted legally, with compensation paid accordingly. The implementation of this scheme will occur in 94 villages within the Sanjay Tiger Reserve, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Panna Tiger Reserve, Veerangana Durgawati Tiger Reserve, Ratapani Tiger Reserve, Orchha Sanctuary, and Kuno National Park.
