Chennai, April 2: The weather in Tamil Nadu is showing signs of change. Light to moderate rain is expected in the southern regions over the next few days, while temperatures across the state are predicted to gradually rise.
According to the regional meteorological department, a low-pressure trough has formed at an elevation of approximately 900 meters, affecting the weather from the interior areas of Tamil Nadu to the northern regions of Karnataka. This system is likely to bring scattered rainfall, especially in the coastal districts of southern Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats.
On Thursday, light rain may occur in one or two locations within these areas. Rainfall activities are expected to increase slightly on April 3 and 4, with some places experiencing light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder.
However, the rest of Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, is likely to remain predominantly dry, with no significant rainfall forecasted for these regions.
The weather department has also warned that maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may rise in the coming days. The increasing heat and humidity could cause discomfort, particularly in the interior districts.
In the capital, Chennai, the sky will be partially cloudy over the next two days. Despite this, temperatures may exceed 35 degrees Celsius, leading to hot and humid conditions for residents.
Meteorologists have advised the public to stay hydrated and avoid exposure to direct sunlight during the afternoon hours.
