Ahmedabad, August 22: Monsoon activities continue in Gujarat. The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain across all districts of the state for the next seven days. Ahmedabad is also expected to experience similar weather conditions during this period. According to officials, there is currently no strong weather system near Gujarat that could lead to heavy rainfall in the coming days.
Weather department official Ramashray Yadav stated that the forecast for the next week includes all districts in Gujarat, with light to moderate rain anticipated everywhere. He mentioned that while rainfall activities are likely to persist under the current weather conditions, there is no significant system in place that would result in widespread heavy rain.
Yadav explained that a low-pressure area is currently situated near northeastern Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, a monsoon trough is active, extending from Amritsar towards the low-pressure area. These weather systems are contributing to rainfall activities in surrounding regions. He noted that southwestern to western winds are expected to blow across Gujarat’s land region over the next few days. Given these seasonal conditions, rainfall is expected to continue in Gujarat.
The weather department reported that from June 1 to August 22, Gujarat has recorded a total of 511.8 millimeters of rainfall. During this period, the normal rainfall should have been 534.4 millimeters, indicating a deficit of about 4 percent across the state. However, there are significant variations in rainfall data across different regions. The Gujarat region has received above-normal rainfall, while Saurashtra and Kutch are experiencing a deficit.
Specifically, the Gujarat region recorded 789.5 millimeters of rainfall from June 1 to August 22, compared to the normal of 699.9 millimeters for this period, reflecting an excess of 13 percent. In contrast, Saurashtra and Kutch have seen weaker rainfall conditions, with only 291.8 millimeters recorded against a normal of 402.6 millimeters, resulting in a deficit of 28 percent.
Ramashray Yadav further clarified that light to moderate rain is expected for the next seven days. He reiterated that there are currently no rain-bearing systems near Gujarat capable of causing heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rain is likely to persist across all districts, including Ahmedabad.
