Light Rain Expected in Southern Tamil Nadu Coastal Districts, Temperature Rise Anticipated from Tuesday

Chennai, March 15: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has forecast light rain in certain areas of coastal southern Tamil Nadu, while most other regions in the state are expected to experience dry weather with rising temperatures.

The weather department indicated that a low-level cyclonic circulation prevalent in the coastal regions of southern India could lead to light rain in one or two locations in southern Tamil Nadu.

Additionally, the department mentioned that scattered rain is likely in parts of the Nilgiris and southern districts on March 16. However, dry weather is expected to continue in most other districts, including Puducherry and its Karaikal region.

Meteorologists reported heatwave-like conditions in some parts of the state on Saturday, with Vellore recording a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius. Similar high temperatures were noted at Paramathi in Namakkal district and Madurai Airport.

Forecasts suggest that maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to remain above normal, indicating a continuation of hot weather conditions in several areas.

In Chennai and surrounding regions, maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The sky may be partially cloudy, but heavy rainfall is not anticipated in the city.

Moreover, light scattered rain may occur in Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi districts until Monday. Following this, moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely in some areas of southern Tamil Nadu, northern Tamil Nadu, and interior districts on March 17.

The weather department further stated that moderate rainfall may persist in some scattered locations in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on March 18. Meteorologists have also warned of a slight increase in daytime temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until March 17, advising residents to take precautions against heat-related discomfort as the summer intensifies.
