Bhopal, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : On September 18, prominent leaders gathered in Bhopal to commemorate the sacrifice of tribal heroes Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghu Nath Shah. Central Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, led the tributes.
Chouhan expressed his respect on the social media platform X, stating, “On the martyrdom day of the immortal heroes of the 1857 First War of Independence, I pay my humble tribute to Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghu Nath Shah. Their courage and valor will continue to inspire future generations to serve the nation selflessly.”
Chief Minister Yadav also honored their legacy, saying, “I pay my humble tribute on the martyrdom day of Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghu Nath Shah, who sacrificed everything for the pride of our motherland. The father-son duo’s indomitable courage in the fight for freedom is an unforgettable chapter in our glorious history.”
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla shared his thoughts on X, referring to them as great leaders of the Gondwana Empire and pioneers of the 1857 revolution. He noted, “They ignited the flame of revolution against British rule with their unparalleled bravery. Their contributions to the freedom struggle will always be remembered.”
Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister for Rural Development and Labor, called them eternal symbols of the Gondwana Empire and tribal society, stating, “On their martyrdom day, I bow to Maharaja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghu Nath Shah. Their courage and sacrifice for the protection of our motherland inspire us all to continue our service with the resolve of ‘Nation First.’”
Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath also paid tribute, remarking that their sacrifice will inspire generations to love their country.
